We are so proud and excited to share that Smiles has been named a finalist in TWO categories at the Elysian Awards 2027.
Making a Difference with Animals; Making a Difference Together
Incredible Volunteer Contribution Award; Making a Difference with Animals
For our little farm, this recognition means so much.
To have our volunteers and animals recognised for the difference they make is something truly special!
These finalist places belong to our amazing volunteers and everyone who continues to support and believe in Smiles.
We couldn't do any of this without you.
Two award categories, one amazing team and a little farm making a big difference!

We’re just about to come into the hardest time of year for the Farm as our outgoings rise and our income drops drastically.
Before you start your Christmas shopping, go on Amazon, renew your car insurance, or book a holiday to escape this rain. Please join the easy funding app and every time you shop over 8000 online businesses will donate to the farm at NO cost to you.
This is a completely free way of raising money and supporting the Farm while you shop online it takes two minutes to sign up and would make the world a difference to our animals and our visitors.
Please share far and wide to keep us going through winter

As an example of the work ethic required here we see the fabulous Steve demonstrating the patience needed to collect a stool sample from the donkeys
Another year of fun and being in our fabulous community.. We are so lucky!!
A huge thank you to both Crowborough Bonfire & Carnival Society and Rotherfield & Mark Cross Bonfire Society
for all their hard work and making these events such a success!
Also giving us the honour of being one of the beneficiaries this year.
Our favourite farmer Will and his fantastic team that join us both in the tractor and on the float Bruce Roberts, Harry, Saffon and Isla.
Wadhurst Scaffolding for keeping us safe and dry onboard. Because the way we jump around, we would have all fallen off
@darrenmitchel for providing all our sound equipment at short notice and not telling us off when he had to walk down from the village because we couldn’t get the music on. But actually not pressed play (sorry Darren)!
Beverly Pashley @artytime and the children that created some beautiful art, which we are going to frame and keep forever.
All our clients, children in our community that produced gorgeous scarecrows, Chris Rhea and paintings for our float
Lastly (I think) our fantastic volunteers who danced their little socks off and helped at both nights

After the incredible news that Smiles as been named a finalist in the East Sussex Care Awards 2026, we’re hoping for your support once again!
If you’ve visited Smiles, experienced what we do, or believe in the difference our little farm makes,
we’d love you to nominate us for the Rural Enterprise Award at the Countryside Alliance Awards 2026!
We’re a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit farm making a real difference in our community.
If you’re wondering what to include in your nomination, here’s a little reminder of what we do:
It takes just a couple of minutes to nominate us, but your support means the world to our Smiles family.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
Thank you for believing in us!

We are absolutely delighted, incredibly proud and a little bit emotional to announce that Smiles has been nominated for Outstanding Contribution to the Community (Judges’ Award) at the East Sussex Care Awards 2026!
What an incredible honour!
For those who don’t know the full extent of what we do, Smiles is so much more than just a farm.
We are a small, non-profit, volunteer-run organisation dedicated to making a difference to the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
So, what do we actually do?
But sometimes, what we do is much simpler than all of that.
Those moments are why Smiles exists.
We don’t have huge budgets or fancy facilities. What we do have is four acres of countryside, wonderful animals, an extraordinary team of volunteers and a genuine passion for making a difference.
Our volunteers give their time, energy and dedication throughout the year, in all weathers, and without them none of this would be possible.
To be nominated for Outstanding Contribution to the Community means more than words can express, because that is exactly what we set out to do.
We may be a small organisation, but we hope the difference we make is enormous.
To whoever nominated us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To our volunteers, families, visitors, local businesses and everyone who supports us, this nomination belongs to you too.
Whatever happens at the awards, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.
One person, one visit, one smile at a time.
Thank you from all of us at Smiles Sensory & Family Farm!
WOW… what an absolutely AMAZING night Smiles had at Crowborough Carnival!
The atmosphere was incredible from start to finish, with floats, costumes, lights, music and smiling faces lining the streets. It was wonderful to see the whole community coming together and creating such a fun and memorable evening.
We were completely thrilled — and very proud — to win Best Dressed Float! We put so much time, love and hard work into creating our float, so receiving this award really did mean the world to us.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped design, build, decorate and bring our float to life, as well as everyone who joined us on the night. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing Smiles team!
What a night, what a community and what an incredible result for Smiles! We are still absolutely buzzing!

On Wednesday 2nd September we had the privilege of welcoming little Olive to the Smiles family.
Olive has been a much-loved family chicken, but sadly over the last few years her family have gradually had to say goodbye to the rest of their flock. Most recently they lost Hennypenny, leaving Olive as the last little chicken on her own.
After caring for their chickens for so many years, making the decision to say goodbye to Olive wasn’t an easy one. But they knew that chickens need companionship and wanted to do what was best for her — giving her the chance to become part of a new flock and have a new chicken family around her. And that’s where Smiles came in.
Olive arrived yesterday and very quickly started investigating her new home. She was greeted by Dave the goat, who obviously felt an official Smiles welcome was required!
She has already started getting to know some of her new chicken friends and has settled in beautifully. We’ll introduce her to the rest of the flock gradually and let her find her feet at her own pace.
It’s always bittersweet when an animal comes to us from a family who genuinely loves them. Olive has been very loved!
We know they’re going to miss her enormously, but they can come and visit her and see her enjoying her new life whenever they like.
Welcome to your new chicken family, Olive. We think you’re going to fit in just perfectly.
